First walk of the season…
Out of doors, that is.
It’s finally consistently reading above 0 on the thermometer on the garage so when I missed the bus today I decided to take a stroll to a different stop.
Total distance walked (according to google maps): 1.9 km
This makes me feel a little better about the lack of gym time recently as I try to cope with the fiasco that is end of term in the CS department.
And now a comic which I think I want to print and frame: click here

I’m slightly skeptical about this, but…

I’m amused I’ll admit.
It’s here on the CBC site so I’d be more inclined to take it seriously than something off quizmania.com (Note: I have no idea if any site exists at that url) or another unknown site, but at the same time its hard to take seriously given it’s an online quiz done in flash…
At the very least go take it to get a chuckle out of the video in the middle.

Filler…

You scored as James Bond, Agent 007. James Bond is MI6’s best agent, a suave, sophisticated super spy with charm, cunning, and a license to kill. He doesn’t care about rules or regulations and is somewhat amoral. He does care about saving humanity though, as well as the beautiful women who fill his world. Bond has expensive tastes, a wide knowledge of many subjects, and his usually armed with a clever gadget and an appropriate one-liner.

And what a day…
Yesterday was sunny and warm.
Today was a snow dump. And an info dump relating to school.
I hate decision making days. And today is very much one of them. Thankfully I have until tomorrow evening to make the decision, but that’s less time than I would like.

So now it feels kinda like being thrown back in time about 2 weeks. Bah.

Brought to you by the letters ‘S’ and ‘R’…
First some filler:

Next: If you’ve e-mailed in the past week, I’m sorry about the lack of response, but I should be getting on it soonish. I just got hammered and the only reason I am still functioning is thanks to S, R, and R for keeping me sane despite the crazy hours in front of the computer and the crap that the profs are dishing out for assignments this late in the term.
Coming up: The project blitz. 3 projects which end less than a week before exams begin. I wasn’t getting a lot of social time in and now it will decrease some more. I think my goal is to see 300 before I disappear into the lab again. And answer my e-mails. Unfortunately, I’m also coming to the end of my funds which means it would be a good time to pick up some more work, but with the project blitz happening it would be stupid of me to do so.
Alright - four more weeks of insane scheduling and then I can get a weekend off to sleep in… I hope. Anyone know of a place looking for a slightly brain burnt .NET programmer?
And more filler:

I’m sure this amuses you all as much as it does me….
I hate being this swamped. My goal for the weekend is to sleep in!

Children of Men
I took some time off to watch this movie tonight.
It made me think of human darkness. I’ve reached a general conclusion that there are two camps about humanity - the ‘people are basically good and such things will never be allowed to pass’ and the ‘I pray/hope every day that the situation does not occur because it would quite possibly be that horrific’.
It’s interesting to hear people talk after watching such a movie and all they have to say is ‘The main character died. Isn’t that odd?’ It all just makes me wonder.

On the topic of why I hate my full name…
The result when given my full first name:
The result when given my preferred name:
Of the two - one sounds snobby and the other sounds confident. It’s like the difference between being introduced as ‘Alexandra’ and ‘Lex’. First impressions matter and it’s important to know what type of impression you’re working on making.
Two months down, two to go. Guess I should start looking for non-independent work soon so I know if I’m moving again.
